Based on fundamental analysis and “seeking truth from facts”, quality value investing remains an effective approach in today’s investment world, and a trend likely to continue into the near future. To keep the approach fresh and effective, the concept has evolved from finding cheap stocks to finding quality businesses and people, while blending in market relevant themes such as climate change and inflation hedges to shape market outcomes. Dato’ Seri CHEAH Cheng Hye, one of the leading practitioners of quality value investing in Asia and beyond, will share how to make value work today.
While common prosperity is not a new concept, its arrival as a principal policy focus and objective signals a new direction towards equality in the world’s second largest economy. Mr. Charles LI, Founder and Chairman of Micro Connect (former Chief Executive of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited), will examine what “common prosperity” truly means and what can be done on both the macro and micro level.
Panel : Marrying Philanthropy with Impact Investing
Philanthropy refers charitable giving for a purpose or good cause that helps others or the society without financial return, whereas impact investing aims to create specific social or environmental impacts in addition to financial gains. The panel will look into the growing demand for impact investing among family offices, how philanthropy and impact investing can be done in tandem and nurture a family’s human capital through developing the next-generation family members’ entrepreneurial orientation and societal capital it brings.
Asia’s stellar economic growth and development has attracted the attention of capital around the world looking to make a play for the best opportunities. Mr. Michel LONGHINI, a wealth management veteran, will shed light on the operations of European family offices and how they compare with their Asian counterparts, their strategy to capitalise on the investment opportunities in the region, and why Hong Kong is the ideal location to establish satellite operations.
Panel : Role of Family Office in Driving ESG
ESG and sustainability are now more important than ever. The panel will discuss why ESG is here to stay from a family office perspective and the different roles that single family offices and multi-family offices play in pushing forward ESG considerations and integration. It will also examine next-generation family members as the driving force in single family offices leading and managing ESG issues, and multi-family offices’ role as institutional investors in supporting and reinforcing better corporate ESG governance and integration.
- Mr. Kenneth Ho, Vice Chairman, Family Office Association Hong Kong
